Road To Emmaus Printables, Crafts, And Activities For Kids

Teaching your kids Bible stories, especially the stories of the Gospels, is so important. When I reach kids on their own levels and teach them about the story in fun and hands on way, I find that it helps them remember and internalize what they learned. This Sunday’s Gospel is the story of “the road to Emmaus”. This is when the risen Jesus walks with the disciples on the way to Emmaus, but he doesn’t reveal himself to them until they break bread together. You can find all of my Bible crafts for kids here. First off, read the story to your kids from you children’s bible. It’s always good to start with a version of the story that they can understand.

Road To Emmaus- A Station Of Light

This biblical event is a station of light, or station of the resurrection (or sometimes even valled Via Lucis)! These are the counterpart of the stations of the cross, and they go through all the events that happen from the time Jesus rises from the dead until the Holy Spirit comes down upon the apostles on Pentecost. I highly suggest praying through the stations of the resurrection with kids in the same way as you would with the stations of the cross. I especially love these stations of the resurrection eggs from Look To Him And Be Radiant. She symbolizes the road to Emmaus with a magnifying glass, which is too cute.

Road To Emmaus Activites With Kids

Go on an “Emmaus walk” with your kids! This is an activity I suggest in my post on 50 ways to keep the Easter season going with your kids.Go on a walk (The disciples meet Risen Jesus on the road to Emmaus). At some point during the walk, take a break and read the story from the Bible to your kids. Luke 24:13-35. These days we have been going on a LOT of walks, so this feels perfect for this year!

Bake bread with your kids. This is so perfect because in the Emmaus story, Jesus revealed himself in the baking of the bread. This is a great activity to do with kids, and I have written about how to bake unleavened bread with kids before. Here is a picture of when Violet first learned how to bake bread with her little friend at Atrium.
