Pope Francis Craft For Catholic Kids- Free To Print!

As I announced earlier this year, I will be speaking at the upcoming World Meeting Of Families in Philadelphia! I am very excited for this opportunity, and I’m getting very excited about seeing Pope Francis. It’s going to be awesome! I thought you guys might be talking to your kids about the Pope given that he’s coming here soon, so I thought this printable Pope Francis craft would be fun to do with your kids. 🙂

 This little guy is designed in the same style as my Advent Saint ornaments, so he can either sit on the edge of a surface (like a shelf) or he can dangle by a string like an ornament.

Also, his Liberty bell is totally optional. I just thought it would be a fun touch for anyone actually seeing him in Philadelphia this year. 🙂

Supplies Needed To Make Pope Francis Ornament Craft:

  • Free Pope Francis ornament printable {download here}
  • Piece of card stock (to print it on)
  • Glue (I like to use glue dots because then you don’t have to wait for them to dry, but regular school glue or hot glue should also serve you well.)
  • Scissors
  • Crayons or colored pencils (optional- The download is available in color AND in black and white, so you can color him yourself if you like, but you don’t have to.)
  • String (just a foot or so)
  • Single hole punch

Start by printing your page on card stock (download available above) and color if desired.

Cut out all the pieces, and fold the flaps on the legs and bell. Also, fold the arms in half. This makes them double-sided for you without having to print front/back. You’re welcome. 😉

Use your glue to hold the 2 sides of each arm together. Next, take your Pope Francis piece and roll it into a cone shape. Use the flap on the edge to glue under the back side.

Next, put glue on the back flap on the top of his head, and stick it under the back of his head. This will put his circle hat on top of his head, and leave holes on each side of his head for the string of the ornament to go through. You’ll need to punch the holes in the sides of the leg flaps. Your string needs to go in one side of his head, out the bottom of the ornament, through both holes in the leg flaps, back up, and out the other side of his head. This will make a loop on top of your ornament and hold the legs in place with all 1 piece of string.

Use glue to attach his arms to the sides of his body. If you want to include the Liberty Bell, use glue to attach the bell flaps to the inside of his hands.

In other exciting news, if you’re attending World Meeting of Families, your kids are going to get the chance to make my Pope Francis puppet at the actual conference! Isn’t that awesome?!

At conferences, I always carry my Catholic Icing bag so it’s easier to recognize me if you want to come up and say hello, which I hope you do. 🙂

You can find even more Papal resources for kids here! This post includes Pope printables, crafts, snacks, and more.
