I’m in Catholic Digest- March 2012!

They’ve been working on revamping Catholic Digest Magazine, and Danielle Bean wrote me to ask if I was interested in writing an article about celebrating St. Patrick’s day. As it turns out I was totally interested! 😉

I’ve never written for a magazine before. It was interesting to be making St. Patrick’s day treats around Thanksgiving- lol. Look- they even mentioned my article on the cover!

It was very exciting to have my projects published in a magazine. One time Catechist Magazine mentioned Catholic Icing, and once Lydia’s art was published in Faith and Family Magazine, and I’ve done some interviews for Catholic newspapers, but this was the first time to have an article published that I actually wrote. Here’s a picture of one of the pages in my article:

Post continues after this brief information about the Catholic Icing Monthly Membership

Does it make me a total nerd that I’m excited to see my name in the table of contents? 😀

My article has 5 recipes for St. Patrick’s day, and one craft. Actually, the craft I pulled from my blog. Do ya’ll remember the shamrock rosaries? Well, they’re in there. 🙂 To see the rest of my projects, you’ll have to get the magazine. I was able to get a few copies from my local Catholic Shop. You can read more about Catholic Digest on their site.

  15. Lacy,
Your links aren’t working – I want to retrieve the directions for the Cake craft for the Nativity of Mary posted in September 2011 and it keeps saying 404 Error. I have looked by month, by subject, by your gallery link, by search, and I can’t get it. Please help! I am supposed to be doing this tomorrow with 6 girls and I can’t remember how to make the ‘icing’ and need the template for the cake slice.

More importantly, congratulations on this article and your website in general. You do a great job and I have enjoyed doing many of your ideas with my children.

    • You’re right! Some of my posts disappeared when I moved to WordPress- looks like that was one of them. I tried to retrieve it from blogger and put it up for you, but blogger is being stupid. Just google “microwave puff paint recipe” and also “printable cake template”. Print the templates, and decorate with the paint.

  16. Yes! I get this magazine. That is awesome!!

  17. Karianna@CaffeinatedCatholicMama says

  22. Congratulations Lacy!! Now you’re generosity of heart and craftiness will bless countless others! You should be a staple in the Catholic Digest in my humble opinion!! I just received this magazine so I will check it out! Have a Blessed Lenten Journey.

  23. Kitty Cleveland says

Congratulations, Lacy! I hope you consider becoming a regular contributor–maybe you could have a monthly column simply called “Catholic Icing.” It’s such a clever name, and your ideas do add that “little something extra and sweet” to being Catholic! 🙂 God bless you, Kitty Cleveland

  24. Polka Dot Mommy says

I actually was worried when I saw the shamrock rosary in the new issue… I have only perused the magazine so far so I hadn’t made the connection… but I’m glad to hear someone didn’t rip off your craft!

I’m excited for you! The article looks great… I love the snack ideas, we will be using them in my daycare for sure!

    Congratulations!

    • I love that you recognized the rosary! Even though it was me, I try not to get upset when people “rip off” my stuff. I try to keep in mind that sometimes people genually have the same ideas. 🙂

  25. Wow! Crazy awesome cool! Congratulations!

  26. Nancy Buckley says

Yay for you! I subscribe to CD and I did see your article in there. I hope they contact you again for more great articles and craft ideas. Have a blessed Easter!
