World’s Most Ridiculous Sugar Cookie Ever

Today, I’m going to show you how to make the world’s most ridiculous sugar cookie ever. This recipe is extremely relevant when you have a kid that has had a bad day for whatever reason, and your mama heart can’t take it. You want to do something for your kid, but you just feel powerless. Well… let me tell you. In that moment, it’s time to make the world’s most ridiculous sugar cookie ever!

Note: There is a printable recipe at the bottom of the page, but you’ll want to check out all of the pictures and steps in the post first.

This is going to be paired with the world’s most riciculous icing recipe ever, which is essentially like pour painting a cookie. We do a lot of pour painting at my house (I am addicted to it!) so pour painting a cookie sounded like a reasonable thing to do to me.

How To Make A Ridiculous Sugar Cookie

Mix your favorite sugar cookie recipe, but without chilling it when you’re finished. Then make it into a big ball. Cover a cookie sheet with foil to insure easy removal of the cookie without sticking. Place the ball of cookie dough on the foil and start flattening it out with your hands into a big pizza crust shape. It will spread when it bakes (just like any cookie) so it needs room around the edges to grow.

Continue pushing the dough out into a big circle until it feels about the depth of a cookie throughout. Because it’s one big cookie rather than a bunch of little cookies, reduce your baking temperature to 325 F and bake for about 30 minutes until the edges are golden brown. It will rise in the middle, but it falls again as it cools.

Ta da!!! You have a giant ridiculous cookie! Time to move onto the the ridiculous icing.

Preparing The Ridiculous Icing

This is so fun and ridiculous, and it actually wasn’t as messy in the end as I thought it would be! So first, mix your icing (recipe at bottom of post).

Keep half of the icing white, and then split the other half into 4 separate cups.

Each cup will be dyed a different color with food coloring. We used the “neon” box and used all 4 colors provided.

We used quite a bit of food coloring- I would say 10-12 drops per cup. Stir each with a small spoon.

Take a large measuring cup and layer your different colors of painted icing in the cup together. So a little of this, a little of that, back and forth. It doesn’t matter too much how you do this, so it’s the perfect fun and colorful job for a kid!

You can take the cups that still have a bit left and mix a little bit more milk in. They will be runnier and can be added at the end when you want a little color splashed here or there.

How To Pour Paint A Cookie With Icing

So you are ready to pour paint your ridiculous cookie. Yay!!!

Setting Up The Cookie

My cake cooling rack wasn’t quite big enough for the world’s most ridiculous cookie, so I took a (cool) rack out of my oven. I then took a large black trash bag and I cut it open a bit. I laid this out over my work surface to ensure easy clean up. I then took my oven rack and placed it on the trash bag. This is where we will pour paint the cookie.

Transfer the giant sugar cookie to be placed directly on the oven rack. Make sure the cookie is completely cool before transferring. Use however many people or spatulas this takes to be sure the cookie doesn’t break!

Pro Tip For Pour Painting The Cookie

I already knew this because I have pour painted so many canvases, but for some reason it didn’t occur to me to apply this concept to the cookie. But it’s ok- you are going to learn from my mistakes.

You want to first pour paint the cookie white with your thinner icing. This is because if you miss any places with the colorful icing, they won’t be icingless, but ALSO because the colorful icing itself is going to move a lot easier on an already wet surface. I do this when pour painting my canvases as well. I will lay down a layer of white paint before pouring to help with the fluidity of the paint.

You do not want to skip this step! I ended up pouring some white around the edges of ours when the icing wasn’t moving well enough, and it helped a lot. Ok, you have been told lol.

Time For The Ridiculously Fun Part!

First, pour on your white glaze, covering the surface of the cookie.

Now it’s time to pour your big cup of crazy icing swirls in the middle of the cake!

Start carefully lifting your oven rack to tilt the icing in different directions, but make sure the cookie doesn’t slide off the rack.

You can use the little bits that are still in the cup to add splashes of color where you want them or fill in areas around the edge where your icing is having trouble moving to.

When you have the icing flowing over all the edges of the cookie, place it flat. Withing a few minutes the icing will all lay itself flat and even out.

Then cover the cookie in ridiculous assorted sprinkles while the icing is still wet.

Now comes the hard part- waiting for the icing to dry. Try to be patient!

Displaying The World’s Most Ridiculous Cookie

We decided to put ours in a pizza box, and the kids called it unicorn pizza because it reminded them of recipes like this unicorn fruit dip or unicorn bark. Who am I to argue? Unicorn pizza it is! lol

The park seemed like an excellent place to enjoy our ridiculous unicorn pizza, so off we went with our pizza box and pizza cutter. Violet even sliced it herself!

This was a huge hit! Super delicious, super fun, and super ridiculous!

World’s Most Ridiculous Icing Recipe Ever

Not only is this icing beautiful and super fun, but it is also completely delicious!!!

Ingredients Needed:

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 Tbs milk
  • food coloring

Mix the powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and almond extract thoroughly with a fork. Add a few tablespoons of milk as needed to make the icing runny enough to move when you tilt the cookie, but not so thin that it will fall off the cookie. The half that you pull to the side to cover the cookie first in white icing can be a bit runnier than your colored icing.
