This week we are learning about the number 5, so we made this Jerusalem Cross Craft from popsicle sticks. My daughter (age 4) really enjoyed this!
Here is a picture of a Jerusalem Cross.

Materials Needed for Jerusalem Cross Craft
  • Popsicle sticks (either a color assortment or you can color them yourselves with markers before you begin)
  • Black marker
  • Scissors (for the adult)
  • School Glue

You will need 4 popsicle sticks of one color and 4 plain popsicle sticks. Take 2 of your colored popsicle sticks and cut off the rounded ends with scissors. Then cut them in half. Put some marker dots on them to help your preschooler know where to put her drops of glue.

Help your preschooler to glue them into a cross, and then attach a little piece to each end.

Help your preschooler to glue the popsicle sticks together like this, then mark some new places for glue.

Glue on your original piece to complete your Jerusalem Cross.

Number the crosses 1-5, saving the “5” for the middle cross. Tie on a piece of yarn so you can hang your Jerusalem cross from whatever you want to. 🙂
