Assumption of Mary- Are You Ready to Celebrate?

The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary is on August 15. FYI- Jesus Ascended into heaven. Mary was Assumed into heaven. Hence the “Ascension of Jesus” and the “Assumption of Mary”. Guess Jesus could do it on his own, and Mary was abducted alien style. Ok, only kidding about the ‘alien abduction’ part. 🙂 You can find more August feast days to celebrate with kids here.

Here are some ways to have fun in celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary! (Man, what a mouth full!)

Also, here are some ideas from my Ascension of Jesus post. I love this

it’s blue to symbolize Mary, too! 🙂

  1. I'm willing to bet that while I'm sitting at Mass this weekend I'll remember that Mary was taken "alien style" and start to laugh. It always works out that way.

    Hi Lacy,
Been reading your blog for a while, but I'm mostly a lurker and not a commenter. I don't have a family yet, but I know that when I do I'll be turning to your site for all these great Catholic ideas!

I have some awards waiting for you on my blog; come check them out when you have time! 🙂

  3. Thank you once again for linking to SJTB's website! 🙂 It's great to know that our coloring pages are being used and shared.

That jello dish is amazing ~ I didn't get to make it this year but I must add that to my repertoire!

I really want to make these sometime! 🙂

  8. Thank you so much for posting these great ideas. We made the jello & it was a huge hit!

  9. I’ve been wanting to celebrate this feast with my family for years and I’ve never made it happen. My birthday is the next day so I think I’ll tell my kids I want to have an assumption party instead of a b-day party! Thanks for the great ideas!

  10. Your list has some really great ideas on it. I have also created a list of free resources for celebrating the feast of the Assumption of Mary. I would love for you to check it out if you get a chance.
