Holidays In Handprints- A DIY Christmas Treasury For Catholic Children

I created a printable book that is a special Christmas treasury for Catholic kids, and the pages are illustrated by your child and his or her handprints. 🙂 (For those of you familiar with my products, it’s the Advent/Christmas counterpart to Holy Week In Handprints.)

Each handprint picture is designed to be loads of fun, and easy to replicate! Even the youngest of children can participate in a handprint craft, and the craft also becomes a keepsake to be treasured. Imagine pulling this book out for years to come to read it to your children and grandchildren, saying things like “look how small your mommy’s hand used to be!”

Each of your children can create their own individual books, or your family can work together towards making one book to be enjoyed by all. (If you do this, I suggest writing the name of the handprint artist in on each page.)

This book is simple to put together! Just print the page, then follow the handprint directions to complete the illustrations and make it your own.

If you absolutely hate paint mess, you can trace hands onto construction paper, cut, glue them onto the pages, and embellish with magic markers. Or if your child likes to draw, they can simply use the printable pages and illustrate the book with their own pictures.

Pages In This Book:

  • 1 full color printable cover waiting for you to add the characters into the stable
  • A page for Thanksgiving with a thankful scripture
  • 4 pages for the 4 Sundays of Advent including a wreath blessing, an Advent song, the O Antiphons, and O Christmas tree
  • The story of St. Nicholas for children
  • A poem for Our Lady of Guadalupe
  • A Santa Lucia page with her song in English
  • 7 pages for the actual Christmas season including Happy Birthday Jesus, Christmas story scripture, religious hymns, and the 3rd Joyful Mystery of the Rosary: The Nativity
  • A page for the Epiphany
  • 1 page for Candlemas, Feb 2, to officially close the season

That makes 17 pages total for the book, and they are for completing over roughly a 10 week period.

My kids always love handprint crafts, and I love keeping them over the years! When we make books like this, I laminate the covers and bind them and keep them with our holiday stuff in the attic so they come out and we enjoy them each year!

I hope ya’ll enjoy this book as much as my family does! Don’t forget to pin it and “spread the icing” 😉

  1. I’m so happy to see this! I did Holy Week in Handprints with my older kids a couple of years ago and it’s such a wonderful keepsake. I was actually thinking we should do it again for my younger kids this Lent, so I’m really excited to have a Christmas version to do too! I just bought it and am looking forward to getting started. The kids love doing it, it takes minimal effort from mom, and results in a high quality end product. Thanks so much!
