Epiphany House Blessing and a Linky

Today is the First Friday of the month, which means I’m hosting a Catholic linky- it’s your turn to share! What have you been up to? Add your links at the end of this post. :-)

As these 12 days of Christmas come to a close, I wanted to share some pictures of our Epiphany door blessing from last year.

It’s very easy to bless your house for the Epiphany, and you don’t need a priest- you can do it yourself! Click here for the blessing of the chalk, and click here for directions on how to bless your home.

Here’s what the chalked markings on the door mean: The “20″ is for the first 2 numbers of the year, the 3 letters are the first Initial of each of the kings (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar) and the last 2 numbers are the last half of the year. The “C, M, B also stands for the Latin blessing Christius Mansionem Benedicat which means “May Christ Bless this House”.

For 2012 this is what you will write on your door in chalk:

20 + C + M + B + 12

By the way, for those of you who don’t already know, I’m totally obsessed with purple. Hence the color of our front door. :-)

Alright, now share your links! Feel free to share anything Catholic you’ve been doing, or anything you’re planning on doing soon. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to! Just be sure to link back here so everyone can join in on the fun!
